Basic Habit is a privacy-focused habit tracking app, designed to work primarily on your device, without requiring an account, email signup, or cloud synchronization.
This Privacy Policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and what is not collected.

1. Collected information

Basic Habit stores the information needed for the app to function locally on your device. This includes:

• Habit information such as title, cue, weekly target, creation date, and active/archive status
• Daily check-in records, including:
  • Completion status
  • Skipped days
  • Selected friction reasons
  • Timestamps and dates
  • Optional notes
  • Optional notes
• Weekly review data and habit progression decisions
• Generated habit analysis data, such as patterns, trends, and suggestions produced from your own activity
• App preferences, such as onboarding state and premium unlock status

This data is stored locally on your device using the app's private storage and local databases.
These are not required or collected:

• Name, email address, phone number, or address
• Location data
• Contact list or device contacts
• Photos, camera data, microphone recordings, or files unrelated to your habit tracking
• Social media accounts or login details
• Advertising IDs or third-party profile data

2. How the data is used

It is used only to provide the core features of the app, including:

• Tracking your habits and daily progress
• Recording completion and skip events
• Identifying friction patterns and habit trends
• Calculating habit health, progress, and review insights
• Providing adaptive suggestions and scaling recommendations
• Supporting local backup and restore functionality
• Managing premium access for the app's paid features

The app does not use your personal habit data to profile you, sell advertising, or build marketing profiles.

3. Local-only storage and no account system

Basic Habit does not create user accounts or require sign-in. Your habit data remains on your device unless you intentionally export or import a backup file.

This means:

• Your habit history is not hosted on servers
• Your data is not synced to a cloud account
• Your data is not shared with third-party platforms as part of normal app use

4. Data export, import, and backups

The app includes backup and restore functions that allow you to export your data as a local file or import a previously created backup.

When you use this feature:

• The backup file is created on your device or selected from your device storage
• The file is transferred only through your device's file system or Android file picker
• No backup files are automatically uploaded or stored on servers

You are responsible for keeping your exported backup files secure, as they may contain your personal habit data.

5. Purchases and premium features

Basic Habit may offer premium features through Google Play Billing. If you purchase premium access, Google Play handles the purchase transaction and payment processing. A local flag indicating whether premium access has been unlocked on your device might be stored. The full payment details in the app are not stored. Google Play's own billing and privacy policies apply to purchase processing.

6. Third-party services

Basic Habit does not use:

• advertising networks
• analytics providers
• marketing trackers
• social login services
• external cloud databases

The app may rely on Google Play services and Google Play Billing for purchase-related functionality, but it does not transmit your habit data to those services for analytics or marketing purposes.

7. Data security

Reasonable steps are taken to protect your local data by storing it in the app's private local storage and using standard Android app sandboxing and local device protections. Since the data is kept on your device, your device's own security settings, screen lock, and backup practices also affect how well the data is protected.

However, no method of transmission or electronic storage is completely risk-free. Absolute security is not guaranteed, but reasonable measures are taken to minimize risk.

8. Data retention

Your data is retained on your device as long as you continue using the app or until you delete the app data, remove the app, or clear the app's local storage.

If you delete your habit data or uninstall the app, the local data may be removed from the device according to the app's behavior and Android storage rules.

9. Your choices

You may:

• use the app without creating an account
• delete your local habit data through the app's data management features
• export your data to a file for backup
• restore your data from a backup file
• disable or remove local backups stored on your device

10. Children's privacy

Basic Habit is not directed to children under the age of 13, and no personal data from children is collected knowingly. If you believe personal information from a child has been provided, please send a message so appropriate steps to remove it are taken.

11. Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy might be updated from time to time to reflect changes in features, legal requirements, or app functionality. If changes are made, the updated policy will be posted within the app or in the app store listing, and the "Last updated" date will be revised.
